Why Copenhagen
Golf courses
The greater Copenhagen region is home to 35 golf courses, each with its own distinctive character, design and degree of difficulty, ranging from 9 holes over 18 holes to 27 holes. If you are not a "regular golfer", you and your family can still try out one of the pay-and-play courses. Everybody is welcome, and nobody will give it a second thought if you make a hash of your first attempt. Most of the golf clubs rent out equipment and have professional coaches both for beginners and for more experienced players. Remember to bring any membership cards, scorecards/handicap certificates etc.
Beach life
One of the great things about our region is that you are never far from the coast - at the most 30 minutes no matter where you are. The region has more than 400 km/250 miles of coastline, so there is no excuse for not enjoying the sea one way or another. The whole area has plenty of exciting activities to offer, including surfing, water-skiing and wind-surfing. Most of the major beaches have lifeguards on duty during the summer months, and many have been awarded the BLUE FLAG guaranteeing clean water of high quality.
Aqua domes
DGI-byen, close to Copenhagen Central Station, has something for everyone. The pools in its "Water Culture House" pose challenges for the whole family. The biggest pool, "the Ocean", is shaped like Piet Hein's super ellipsis with outside lanes of approximately 100 metres/300 feet in length.
City tours
Copenhagen is so packed with unmissable sights and attractions that it can be tricky to fit them all into a short visit. The city may be compact, but it is still rather ambitious to attempt to see everything on foot over one weekend - and imagine if you did not get to see the Little Mermaid or forgot about Amalienborg Slot! One way to make sure that you do not miss any of Copenhagen's major sights and landmarks is to take one of the numerous organised tours of the city, either by bus, bike or boat. Open top bus tours leave regularly throughout the day from Rådhuspladsen, while during the summer the boat tours of the canals and harbour are a popular way to sit back and let the city glide by. Or, if you are feeling more energetic, you can always see the city under your own steam, by bicycle with City Safari Tours.
